Target & Publix Trip --- 08/17

Target

What I Bought
-One Mossimo skirt (on clearance $4.48)
-Three Almay Makeup remover wipes (normal price, $1.47 each)
-One Papermate pens pack (normal price, $1.00)

Coupons
-Three $2 off Almay product (manufacturer, newspaper)
-One $0.75 off Almay eye makeup remover (target.com)
-One $1.00 of Papermate product (target.com)

Price I Paid= $2.69

Not a very good trip to Target, which seems to becoming the norm. It was SUPER INSANELY crowded in Target tonight when I went after work. I seemed to have forgotten that it was a friday night, and the night before a ton of kids go back to college/school. So needless to say I was annoyed by the sheer amount of people in there. So I just grabbed these quick things real fast. But of course, my cashier was an idiot and didn't even scan three of my coupons. I didn't notice this until after I finished checking out. So I had to go to customer service, where the lady told me that I had to go back to the cashier and get the coupons and then come back to her. Ugh. It was worth the $3 to walk back there, but still! Teach your cashier right the first time! I had never even seen this guy before, or several other people working register/stock, and I'm a frequent shopper. I would have gotten this deal for $1.19 if I had had two other target coupons for the Almay products, but I just wanted to use up my manufacturer ones before I forgot to use them, and I only had one target one on me, so I said screw it! I could always print out two more and bring them back with my receipt, but this target gives me a headache, so I'll just skip it!

Publix

-Three Neutrogena face soaps (on sale, $0.99 each)
-Two Pantene Beautiful Lengths conditioners (on clearance, $2.49 each)
-One Pantene hairspray (on sale, $3.49)
-Two Herbal Essences shampoos (on sale, $2.49)
-One Herbal Essence sculpting wax (on sale, $2.49)

Coupons
-Ten $3 off KMF (manufacturer, facebook coupon)
-Seven $1 off soap purchase (Bi-lo catalina coupon)
-Three $1 off Neutrogena skincare (manufacturer, newspaper, thanks Patricia! ;) )
-One Free Pantene styler with purchase of shampoo + conditioner (publix, mail flyer) (Note: I got two conditioners, and my cashier didn't seem to notice/care)
-One $3 off two Herbal Essences (manufacturer, newspaper)
-One Free Herbal Essence product (manufacturer, mail) (Note: I got this coupon in the mail today, no idea how I earned it, but there was no minimum purchase)

Price I Paid= $3.49 !!!!

All this came to $0.83 before sales tax. This is by far my "biggest" deal I've gotten from Publix, and I'm really proud of it! I would have got even a BETTER deal if I had had three more pesky little Bi-lo coupons, for a grand total of $0.49, but these coupons are kind of...hard to get your hands on, if you know what I mean. Anyways, I think I'm done with these KMF soaps. I have a whole stock pile in my closet and I can't imagine needing anymore. But we shall see!

More free soap! This soap doesn't smell fantastic, but it lathers up really well and makes you feel super clean! I think these will make good "thank you" gifts with a little hand crocheted facecloth. And the oil was something I've been wanting to try, and it was on sale so I grabbed it! But I wish I would have just waited because Walgreens has this brand on BOGO free this week.

Collective Bi-lo and Target deals!

I'm back everyone! I've had some technical difficulties with my laptop for the last few days, and I finally got it fixed! Here's a few deals I've gotten lately.

Super Bi-lo 08/07

*Note: These sales are not longer in effect because Bi-lo's sales change on Wednesdays. This post is just to give you an idea of deals you can get. Also, sales vary by area.*

What I Bought
-Four Dawn dish detergents (on sale for $1.00)
-Three Suave deodorants (on sale for $1.69)

Coupons
- Three $0.50 off Suave deodorant (manufacturer, online Redplum) *doubled)
-Three $0.50 off Suave deodorant (target.com) *did not double*
-Four $0.50 off any Dawn (manufacturer, newspaper)*doubled* (Got these thanks to my sister, Patricia! Check out her couponing blog!)

What I Paid= $0.57 +tax

Free Dawn and cheap deodorant! Nothing better than that! I would have bought more Suave, but I was having printing difficulties on a different computer in my house.

*Couponing Tip*
Print out a copy of all of your frequent stores' couponing policies and keep them in your coupon binder or divider. This is a good way to keep track of the different policies while planning your trips, and they are good to keep handy just in case your cashier tries to argue about the policy!

Target Trip 08/09

What I Bought

-Four Scotch Magic tapes (on sale, $0.49)
-One Target Up&Up eye drops ($0.97)

Coupons

-Four $0.50 off Scotch tape (target.com coupon, still available!)
-One $1.00 off Up&Up eye product (target.com coupon still available!)

What I Paid= Just tax!

My Target only had one thing of these eye drops left, otherwise I would have bought four total. As you may know, Target's coupon policy is that no coupon can be used more than four times per transaction. I had a total of 6 Scotch coupons, but gave 2 to my friend that came with me to the store to learn how to coupon! Hurry and print the Up&Up coupon for free eye drops! This is the time to stock up! *Note: The eye drops may not be $0.97 at every Target, but it's worth checking!

UPDATE: Revlon Coupon Problem + Target & Publix Trip 07/31

UPDATE: So Revlon gave me a call and confirmed that my "$1 off any Revlon color cosmetic" coupons do apply for nail polish. Hearing this, I got amped up and was ready to get my money! I went down to Target the next morning with my coupons and receipts in hand, walked straight to guest services, and explained my little "situation" to the girl at the counter. She didn't really say anything, just got on the phone and called for someone to come help her. Of course the woman who comes to help her is the rude woman I dealt with the last time. I just remained calm and explained to her everything. But at the end of the day, I still walked away with coupons and no money. This is how the deal was supposed to work in my mind:

Per "package"= 1 Revlon Nail Polish ($3.79) + 1 Revlon Beauty Tool ($1.27)
One $3 off Revlon Nail Polish wyb Revlon Beauty Tool (Target Coupon)
One $1 off Beauty Tool (manufacturer)
One $1 off Revlon color cosmetic (manufacturer)
= $0.06 plus tax

But the woman explained to me, somewhat unsure of herself, that because there was already a manufacturer coupon used for that "package", I couldn't use another because they only except one target and one manufacturer coupon per item. I explained to her my view, but she disagreed. I no longer wanted to argue and was sick of dealing with the same woman, so I decided to give up. I knew that if I were to ask for the manager, he or she would have been on the side of that woman. $16 is a lot of money that could be back in my pocket, but to me I was just exhausted with coming back up there and dealing with the same woman. I didn't want to be "that person" and throw up a scene and ask for the manager and show out. I guess I'll use my coupons on something else!

Target Trip

What I Bought-One Mossimo scarf (on clearance $7.48)
-One pack of Papermate pens (on sale $0.94)

Coupons
-One $3 off Mossimo (target.com)
-One $1 off Papermate product (target back-to-school mail flyer)

What I Paid=  $4.75

I was happy with this order because I got the scarf for super cheap and I love it! And also, free pens!

Publix Trip

What I Bought-Six bars of Kiss My Face soap (on sale $2.99)
-One Covergirl eyeshadow (normal price, $2.99)
-One Covergirl loose powder (normal price, $4.79)

Coupons
-Six $3 off Kiss My Face product (manufacturer Facebook coupon)
-Two $1 off Covergirl product (Publix in-store coupon)
-One $3 off two Covergirl products (manufacturer, newspaper)

What I Paid= $4.26

I was so excited when I finally got these soaps for free! I've been carrying around these coupons for months now, and they finally went on sale. I kept calling both my Publix's to see if they had any in stock, and they said no. I stopped in to get this Covergirl deal, and I checked the shelf for the soap just in case AND IT WAS THERE! Those little liars! They only had six on the shelf, and I have tons and tons of more coupons, so hopefully they stock more in! I could have gotten a better deal if I bought two eyeshadows, but I needed powder. Pretty good deal!

You Win Some, You Lose Some... Target Collective Trips 7/27--7/28

What I Bought

-Two pairs of black leggings *Not pictured* (on sale for $5 each) = $2 each
-Two Glade plug-ins twin pack (on clearance $4.15 each) = BOTH FREE
-Two Pantene hairsprays (on sale 3/$10)= $1.33 each

Coupons-One $1 off of 2 Pantene products (Target summer beauty bag coupon)
-One $3 off 2 Pantene products (manufacturer, newspaper)
-Two $3 off Mossimo apparel (target.com)
-One BOGO Glade plug-ins (manufacturer, newspaper)
-One BOGO Glade plug-ins (target.com)

Price I Paid= $7.49

I'll just go ahead and get this one out of the way. Nothing too exciting here. The Glade plug-ins were free! So that justifies the $0.39 plug-in warmer I bought the other day, haha. The leggings were nice too, considering I'll be needing them for the fall, and they won't go on clearance for many months to come. This transaction I did separately from one of my Revlon ones, and the way the cashier was acting should have been a sign to me of how my next transaction would go. She started like physically shaking as soon as I handed her my coupons, like she had never seen them before, and was talking to herself and getting herself confused. Ugh.

-----------------------

What I Bought

-Twenty Revlon nail polishes (on sale $3.79 each) =$75.80
-Twelve Revlon nail files *Not all pictured* (regular price $1.27 each) =$15.24
-Two single Revlon files (regular price $1.69 each)= $3.38
-Two Revlon nail clippers (regular price $1.97 each)= $3.94
-Four Revlon compact tweezers (regular price $2.24 each)= $8.96

All of this before tax, would have cost me $107.32

Coupons-Twenty $3 off Revlon polish wyb Revlon beauty tool (target coupon, purchased on ebay)
-Twenty $1 off Revlon beauty tool (manufacturer, purchased on ebay)
-Four $1 off Revlon color cosmetic (manufacturer purchased on ebay)
-One $3 off $20 beauty purchase (target catalina in-store print out)

Grand Total Price I Paid***= $28.82

***(Includes all sales, taxes, coupon reductions, and price of purchasing coupons)

Okay...so here's where things get complicated. I bought 60 coupons (20 each of the ones stated above) on ebay for a grand total of $5.89 for these coupons. As you may have seen from my last post, my first Revlon transaction went perfectly okay. The girl took all my coupons. Yesterday I went back to Target with my mother, and we each did separate Revlon transactions. Before mine, I did the Pantene/Glade/leggings transaction. When it got to my Revlon one, the "Revlon color cosmetic" coupon did not go through when she scanned it. So she says, "I can't take this coupon, it's not for nail polish."
I respond, "Uh...I used those yesterday on the exact same purchase."
"Well I don't even see nail polish in this picture on the coupon."
So she scans the rest of my coupons and tells me my total without the four Revlon color cosmetic coupons.
I tell her, "I used these coupons yesterday, I am using these coupons today."
So she goes and gets some sort of Team Leader, I say team leader because the women was obviously of higher "rank" than the cashier, but was definitely not a manager. The one who walked up was rude, and agreed with the girl that nail polish isn't a "color cosmetic". My mother and I are standing there in shock at how stupid the two women standing in front of us are. They were both extremely rude and unhelpful and did not have a legit reason as to why they couldn't take my coupons. As all of you know, coupons state exclusions as often as possible. And quite often the picture on the coupon doesn't even match what the wording says. NO WHERE on those coupons did it have an exclusion, in fact, it said specifically ANY color cosmetic. Needless to say I was furious. We finished the transactions without the eight coupons (total of $8) and left. I came home and immediately sent an email to Revlon, asking them if that specific coupon covers nail polish. If I get an email back from them saying that it does not cover nail polish, then I'll move on with my life and collect my losses. But if they email me saying that it covers nail polish, I am bringing back all of my receipts and coupons and collecting my money. I know this is silly, but it's about principle. And if I had gone to a different cashier, she probably would have taken my coupons.

Later that night I went back to Target with my boyfriend, and we did two separate transactions for the final sets of nail polish. This went much smoother, and the cashier was super nice. But because of my trouble earlier in the day, I did not even want to try using those color cosmetic coupons again. It was close to 10 at night, they were about to close, and I did not want to get into it again with some idiot. But the woman was really nice! She said, "Oh what a good deal!" after I finished my transaction and nearly finished my boyfriend's. I explained to her (briefly) what happened earlier, and she agreed with me! Nail polish is a cosmetic, they should have taken my coupons! At this point she had finished my boyfriend's transaction and an immediate weight was added to me. This woman would have taken my coupons, but I didn't even TRY. I should have at least tried, and I beat myself up the rest of the night about it. Now that's a total of $16 I missed out on. I saved $78.50 from all of these transactions, but the fact that I could have saved $94.50 makes a big difference! So bummed.

*Note= I realized I would have saved even more if I would have only purchased the $1.27 nail file beauty tool, but my store was out of them, and the nail polish went back up to $3.99 today, so I figured I just needed to get them all finished yesterday.
